Air driven hydraulic pumps were developed in the 60s of the last century specifically for solving the problems of hydraulic high and ultra-high pressure testing.
It is difficult to find a more suitable technical solution than an air pump for the tightness tests of a limited volume samples.
Hydraulic tests differ from most other tasks of high pressure liquids supply in that the main task of the pump is to maintain a constant pressure with a required accuracy at zero or close to zero flow rates.
Among electrically driven pumps, there are not and physically cannot be the same simple, elegant and at the same time effective solutions as air driven pumps.
No complex automation, bypass, cascade control systems can compare with a pump that allows you to solve the test problem in 3 simple steps: set pressure, start the pump, tested.
Every day, the issues of energy conservation, ecology, and conservation of natural resources are becoming more urgent.
Air driven pumps require no bypass system, no water heating. The pump holds the pressure in a test sample without moving the liquid.

3L series pumps have the lowest HP among the entire HII pumps line.
In the standard version, the pumps are equipped with a air drive, the hand drive is an additional modification. At the same time, the air drive cannot be "removed" from the pump design, it simply may not be used in operation.
Hand drive will allow testing of small and ultra-small volumes without overstraining the operator in the range of 0-60% of the pressure range.
For operation without overstraining in a pressure range of 0-100%, we recommend that the air drive is powered with a pressure of at least 4 bar.
However, if it is possible to work from an air drive, preference should be given to the latter, as a much more efficient, convenient, fast and accurate method of pumping and automatic pressure maintenance.
3L pumps are great for testing samples with ultra-small volumes (up to 1 liter).
They are applicable for static testing of vessels with a volume of up to 100 liters.
